No stopping Holt

A WOODLEY teenage has pocketed £500 after mounting a remarkable recovery to retain the Phoenix Snooker League title.

There was no stopping Cameron Holt (pictured left) as he surged up the table with a run of 17 victories out of his final 18 matches to draw level on points with David Graham.
And with less frames lost over the season, Holt was awarded the title.
The 15-year-old, who last year became the youngest ever champion in the 25-year history of Reading’s adult league, suffered a dismal first half of this campaign.
Close to the bottom of the table after 16 weeks, Holt was denied only by veteran Raj Puri in his remaining 18 games.
“I was very pleased with the second half of the season and I’m proud of this achievement,” said Holt, whose highest league break was 50.
Chasing a hat-trick next year will be difficult as his handicap will reduce for the third season running and all the other players are adults.
Holt attends Waingels College, Woodley, and is a member of the High Wycombe Cuestars section at the Liberal Club. He is currently lying fifth on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour.
