Tiny tots Academy level
CUESTARS today unveils an exciting new Academy level for our younger players.
Keen to inspire a new generation, the forward-thinking grass-roots snooker organisation has launched a set of practice routines for three and four-year-olds.
The Reception level has already been successfully trialled during the Eastleigh & District Under-Five League at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
WPBSA coach Tim Dunkley has found problems with one routine, though.
He said: “We’ve tried this with several of our tiny tots and, for some reason, the fifth routine is causing a few issues. Perhaps it needs a couple of apostrophes added. I need to discuss the finer details with John Hunter.”
Talking about the Under-Five League, Tim added: “We have had to make a few adjustments because of their ages.
“We’ve been forced to incorporate regular potty breaks after a rather unfortunate incident that resulted in a pile of soiled cue towels.
“And one small girl dissolved into tears and needed a cuddle from her mum after being awarded a free ball. She thought that meant she could take the yellow ball home with her.”
In a bid to encourage the next generation, any player potting two or more balls in a row is rewarded with a choccy milk drink and a packet of mini cheddars.
