Masters hat-trick for Hunter
JOHN Hunter hasn’t dropped a single frame in the last two legs of the Cuestars Masters Tour.
And the 59-year-old from Andover has now won all three events this season.
The defending champion collected £80 in prize money after beating Pinner-based David Moritz 2-0 in the final of the third leg on home tables at Salisbury Snooker Club.
Colin Norton was the last player to take a frame off the rankings leader in the final of the opening tournament in Newbury in September.
Neil Carroll and Dennis Tristram made the last-four and are joint third in the rankings, three points adrift of second-placed Moritz.
Hunter posted the day’s highest break of 64 in the semi-finals.
There was a good turnout of 16 for the latest stop on the midweek circuit for players aged 55 and over which is sponsored by Tristram.
Prize money: Hunter £80; Moritz £40; semi-finalists Tristram and Carroll £20 each; quarter-finalists Paul Burt, Andy Norman, Mark Burrell and Howard McKenzie £10 each.
The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Reading, hosts the fourth leg of eight on Wednesday, December 10.
