First Cuestars trophy for Scammell

THERE were first Cuestars trophies awarded in the Plate competition during the seventh legs of the Cuestars Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.

Ben Scammell beat Lewis Thomson 2-0 in the final of the knockout for those players who didn’t qualify for the main knockouts.

Neither player had even claimed a piece of silverware before on the regional junior snooker circuit.

Scammell made his debut on the Bronze Tour on home tables at Salisbury Snooker Club in September, 2022, and became a regular on the Silver Tour in March, 2024.

The 16-year-old from Amesbury has qualified for three knockouts this season and is currently tenth in the Silver rankings.

Thomson, from Chandler’s Ford, made his first appearance on the Bronze Tour in September, 2023, and is currently in 19th position.

The seventh legs of ten on Sunday, March 1, are being split between two clubs. Gold and Silver will be at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Reading, and Bronze will be at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Newbury.
