Golden times for Harry Wyatt
HARRY Wyatt revealed the secret to his recent success on the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour after collecting a second winner’s trophy of the campaign.
A 3-0 victory over Noah Gartell in the final of the eighth leg at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Reading, earned the 16-year-old from Ferndown another £150 in prize money.
But more importantly, Wyatt now leads the rankings with two events remaining.
“It was a good day and I’m really happy to win my second Gold tournament,” he said. “I started very slowly but got going in my second match and stayed solid throughout the rest of the day.
“The final with Noah was a bit scrappy at times but I managed to score a little better than him when in the balls.
“Noah has improved so much over the past 12 months and I am sure his first Gold win is around the corner.”
Wyatt has qualified for the knockout in all of the six legs that he has entered this season and won the event in Swindon in December.
Explained his upturn in results, he said: “I’m getting better at winning matches when I’m not playing my best which is something I have struggled with in the past.”
Wyatt recorded the day’s highest break of 91 in his 2-0 round-robin victory over Mason Wilson
Basingstoke-based Wilson qualified for his first knockout since earning promotion from Silver at the end of last season.
Gartell, from Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, has qualified for the knockout in all of the seven legs that he has entered this season. It was the 14-year-old’s third Gold runner-up trophy.
Jaydon Elliot beat Jack Squires 2-1 in the Gold/Silver Plate final.
