Silver success in Swindon for Isle of Wight star Gartell
YARMOUTH green-baize wizard Noah Gartell has claimed his first snooker title.
The 13-year-old emerged victorious from the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour Championship at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.
In an all-islands final, he defeated Jersey-based Archie Greier 2-1.
“It was a hard game,” admitted Gartell, who dropped only two frames out of 14 all day.
“I’ve been playing well lately. Lots of practice is helping.”
Retiring professional Joe Perry played an exhibition frame against Gartell before presenting the trophies. Perry knocked in a 107 break and won 131-0.
Gartell beat Lennon Savage 2-0 in the last-four. In the second semi, Greier ended Daniel Walter’s hopes of collected some silverware in his final event on the junior snooker circuit.
Walter (Portsmouth), who will be 21 when the new season starts, made his Cuestars debut nearly seven years ago and won the Bronze Championship in 2022.
