First Plate win for Heard

TYLER Heard has won the Plate competition for the first time on the Cuestars snooker circuit.

The 15-year-old from Watford claimed the winner’s trophy during the eighth leg of the Cuestars Under-21 Bronze Tour at The Crucible Sports & Social Club, Newbury.

Heard beat Chandler’s Ford-based Toby Phillips 2-1 in the final of the knockout for those players who didn’t qualify for the main knockout.

Phillips, appearing in his third Plate final of the season, is eighth in the rankings. Heard is 11th.

The ninth legs of ten on Sunday, March 29, are being split between two clubs. Gold will be at Waterlooville Sports Bar and Silver and Bronze will be at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
