Rankings champion Lloyd wins last leg in Reading

RUNAWAY rankings winner Mark Lloyd continued his dominance in the ninth and last leg of the Cuestars Championship Tour in Reading.

The 25-year-old from Gosport won his sixth event of the season at The Crucible Sports & Social Club.

And Lloyd, who also crowned champion in 2018/19, left Berkshire £800 richer. He pocketed £600 for clinching the title plus £200 for beating Labeeb Ahmed 3-0 in the final.

Cuestars director John Hunter said that Lloyd “looks in good shape” for Q School at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester later this month and added that the club were “great hosts”.

Leg eight winner Oliver Sykes (Chandlers Ford) recorded the day’s highest break of 133 in his opening match against John Donovan (Camden Town).

Sykes and former professional Jamie Wilson (Havant) made semi-final exits.

Paul Davis (Wareham) finished the season in the runner-up spot. Riley Ellis (Swindon) and Bradley Cowdroy (Bournemouth) are joint third.

Cowdroy collected £25 after beating Jake Baker (Poole) in the Plate final.
