Johnson collects first trophy of the season

GOLD Tour rookie Elliott Johnson has collected his first trophy of the season.

Johnson won the plate competition during the seventh legs of the Cuestars Under-21 tournaments at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The Sutton teenager beat Silver Tour rankings champion John Donovan 2-1 in the final of the event for players not qualifying for the knockouts in the main competitions.

Johnson may be invited to compete in some of the national EPSB Under-21 Premier Development Tour events next season after finishing in second place in the order of merit at the junior play-offs in Northampton earlier this month.

Donovan (Camden Town), who never likes to leave a club without a piece of silverware, picked up his sixth trophy from seven legs this season.
