O’Shay takes early lead on Championship Tour
O’SHAY Scott collected £300 after taking an early lead on the Cuestars Championship Tour.
The 16-year-old from Eastleigh beat Ronnie Sullivan 3-2 in the final of the first leg on home tables at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
Sullivan (Dormansland) forced a deciding frame in the closely fought contest with a 68 clearance but Scott edged the fifth.
Sullivan, who received £150, recorded the day’s highest break – a 117 clearance – against Jack Dady (Basingstoke) in the semi-finals.
Earlier, Ronnie Blake (Sutton) chalked up runs of 85 and 76 in his 3-2 defeat by Dady in the last-16.
Semi-finalists Dady and Matt Callow (Midhurst) picked up £65 each.
Defending champion Mark Lloyd bounced back from losing 3-0 to Carl Davies (Bournemouth) in the last-32 by posting five breaks of 50 or more en route to winning the Plate competition.
The 25-year-old from Gosport pocketed £50 after beating last season’s runner-up Paul Davis (Wareham) 2-0 in the final.
There were 37 entries.
Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon, hosts the second leg of eight on Sunday, October 19.
