Jaydon survives shoe drama to shine on Silver Tour

JAYDON Elliott admitted he “got lucky” on the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour – but it was nothing to do with the run of the balls.

The 18-year-old from Swindon beat Navraj Landa 2-1 in the final of the sixth leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club after a stressful start to the day.

He left his shoes at home.

Pete Champion, dad of Silver player Rory Champion, who had a spare pair in the boot of his car, came to Elliott’s rescue.

“I got lucky with that,” admitted the teenager.

Talking about the final, he said: “I was whacking balls, letting go of my arm and not staying down on the shot but when I did that (staying down), it was all right.

And reflecting on the day, he added. “It’s been all right, not bad considering the start I had – leaving my shoes at home.”

Elliott, who also won the fourth leg in Swindon, moves up to ninth place in the rankings.

Lennon Savage, who lost 2-1 to Landa in a last-four match that included five breaks of more than 30, remains top of the rankings from beaten quarter-finalist Caden Read. Landa is third. Christopher Woodward, who was knocked out 2-0 by Elliott in the semis, is fourth.

The tournament was sponsored by Tan Jeraj, dad of Gold player Zain Jeraj.
