SnookerStore owner gives Cuestars a lift

IAN Whiting may still be manhandling tyres but in his leisure time he now lifts nothing heavier than a cue.

The latest member of the Cuestars sponsorship family gave up all cue sports in 2008 to concentrate on Strongman competitions.

He was the fourth strongest man under 105kg in the south of England in 2009 before injury ended that career.

“I picked up a cue up again in 2017 and have enjoyed it ever since,” Ian told cuestars.co.uk.

The 52-year-old from Caversham owns Premier Mobile Tyres, which operates around the Caversham and Reading areas, and jointly owns Trinity Snooker Club in Henley-on-Thames.

In addition, he runs The SnookerStore which refurbishes cues, fits tips and ferrules, and supplies cues, cases and all sorts of cue-sport accessories.

The SnookerStore is sponsoring a Cuestars Championship Tour leg in Reading this coming season.

Ian is supporting Cuestars because he is “impressed” with the work carried out by John Hunter and his team.

Ian said: “I’m sponsoring Cuestars as I know John and feel the work you guys do for the juniors is fantastic and needs supporting.

“I also know a few of the junior players from billiards and the 900 events.”

Ian has been playing snooker and billiards for around 40 years and has many titles to his name. He is currently ranked No 45 on the World Billiards Tour, is a WPBSA billiards coach and has started back playing on the World Seniors Tour.
