Four in a row lands Vincent Bronze title
FOUR successive tournament wins have landed a Surrey teenager a major title on a regional junior snooker circuit.
Vincent Callender’s remarkable run in the second half of the Cuestars Under-21 Bronze Tour season continued in the tenth and last leg in Bournemouth.
The 13-year-old from Frimley Green clinched the rankings title by beating Jack Miller 2-0 in the final at Greenbaize Snooker Club.
Miller, 11, from Thatcham, who needed to win to overtake Callender, was forced to settle for the runner-up spot.
Callender said: “It’s a very nice feeling, especially winning four tournaments in a row.
“It was a very tough final. I’ve been struggling all day with my tip after a tournament I had yesterday. I miscued and my tip went bad. I need to change it as soon as I can.
“I’m happy that I won but I’m surprised.
“At the start of the season, I got to the semis three times in a row and I was starting to get a bit annoyed.”
But since the turn of the year, the teenager’s game has exploded. He made a new high break of 56 in Salisbury in January, increased that to 69 in Chandler’s Ford and earlier this month knocked in a monster 76 in a league match at his home club, Jimmy White’s Snooker Lounge in Woking.
In addition, he won the tournaments in Swindon, Newbury, Chandler’s Ford and now Bournemouth.
Londoner Buddy Dean made the semi-finals on his Cuestars debut. Lewis Harris finished the season in third place after missing out on the knockout via a three-way play-off.

The event was sponsored by Greenbaize member Shaun Hayman.
Next up is the Cuestars Under-21 Championship at Jimmy White’s Snooker Lounge in Woking on Sunday, May 17, when the top-16 ranked players from each of the three tours will compete for a first prize of £250.
