Ten-year-old’s 59 break

TEN-year-old Jamie Wilson switched off his mobile phone thingy long enough to knock in a new personal best break yesterday morning.

The Portsmouth lad (pictured left) missed the black off its spot on 59 against Luke Beebe in the Eastleigh & District Under-18 League at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club.

It was Wilson’s second half-century and it came a fortnight after 12-year-old Beebe had himself recorded a new high of 59.

“I was shaking (on the black),” he admitted. “I wanted to beat Luke’s break.”

Wilson is currently lying second, behind Beebe, in both the Under-13 and Under-18 Leagues.

Next Sunday the lads will be competing in the under-18 Dunkley Cup at Chandler’s Ford SC.
