Jodie claims first WLBSA title

JODIE Symes has claimed a first junior title on the women’s snooker circuit.

The 15-year-old, based at Jesters SC, defeated Jasmine Bolsover (Woking) 2-0 in the final at the South Coast Classic at the Q-Ball Snooker Club, Eastbourne.
But it was in the main event that the Swindon schoolgirl made the biggest waves.
She beat world number five Eva Palmius 3-2 in the last-16.
In a 3-0 quarter-final defeat by world number one Reanne Evans, she was on the receiving end of a 90 break – the tournament’s highest.
Symes, who is coached by Paul Rose, is ranked 16th on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association (WLBSA) circuit. She is a product of the association’s scholarship scheme which offers free membership and free tournament entry to girls aged under 16.
She will be action again on March 6 at the Connie Gough National Championship in Birmingham and then at the world championships in Cambridge in April.
The South Coast Classic, which attracted a 23-strong field, was the fourth of six WLBSA ranking events this season. It was won by five-time world champion Evans.
