13-year-old chalks up 82 break

A 13-year-old budding snooker star from Gosport chalked up an 82 break in a league match yesterday and was unlucky not to have reached three figures.

Mark Lloyd (Stoke 155) surpassed his personal best by 12 against Mike Raven (Stubbington C) in the Gosport & Fareham Snooker League.
“Everyone was congratulating me on getting the break and it was a great feeling,” said the teenager. “Let’s see if I can reach that landmark of 100.”
Lloyd kicked off his remarkable run in the Division 1 clash at Stoke Snooker Club with an awkward red.
It ended when he snookered himself on the final yellow.
Lloyd explained: “On 76, I played a red but put stun on it instead of drag leaving me on the wrong side of the blue and hampered. I rolled the blue in but snookered myself on the final yellow.”
The talented youngster is currently top of the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Silver Tour. Earlier this month he won the fourth leg in Swindon.
