147 for Wilson

MATT Wilson, who is planning a return to the Cuestars Championship Tour, warmed up for the new season by achieving his “lifetime goal”.

The 33-year-old complied a maximum 147 break against Doug Smith in the Scratch Singles League run by the Thames Valley Snooker League. It came on home tables at the Liberal Club in High Wycombe and beat his previous best of 145 set eight years ago.

Wilson’s last tournament win on the Cuestars circuit was at a Championship Tour event at The Ambassador SC, Poole, in December, 2009. He made two centuries that day and two more the following February en route to winning the rankings title.

The winner of this season’s Championship Tour – which kicks off at Jesters, Swindon, on September 18 – will have his entry paid to the 2017 Q School.
