Dayao wins RJT event in Brighton

TWO weeks after making his debut on the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour, Marcos Dayao won the third leg of the EASB Regional Junior Tour South.

The Londoner beat Jack Haley (Harlow) in the final at the Castle Snooker Club, Brighton.

Connor Benzey (pictured) remains top of the rankings despite a semi-final exit.

The 16-year-old, who won the first two legs, recorded 2-0 victories in all four of his group-stage matches.

He then beat Chandlers Ford clubmate Ryan Hughes 2-1 before going out 2-0 to Dayao.

Steven Hughes went in-off the next red on a break of 72 against John Donovan in the group stages and dropped one place to fourth after a 2-0 quarter-final defeat by Haley.

Jamie Wilson, who remains in second place, fired in a 92 break in the group stages and lost 2-0 to Dayao in the quarter-finals.

Adam Stacey was knocked out by Haley in the semis. Riley Ellis and Donovan made group-stage exits.
