Dylan Beer delays holiday to claim first title

DYLAN Beer’s decision to delay the start of his Isle of Wight holiday paid a double dividend on the final day of the Autumn Half-Term Cup at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The ten-year-old from Fair Oak headed off to the ferry terminal after clinching his first school-holiday competition title AND with a new high break under his belt.

Dylan held off the combined threats of William Thomson and Asten Sahota to defend his overnight lead in the Day 5 snooker round-robin.

In the match of the day, Dylan made a personal best 32 break but Asten replied with a 30 and won the frame.

Caden Read continued his good form from the previous day by topping the group.

William finished runner-up for the week. Asten was third.

Five players passed their Cuestars Academy levels on the opening day and Bronze Tour champion Asten recorded a new high break of 38 on the third day.

Next up at Chandlers Ford SC is the Christmas Cup.

Players aged under-14 at the end of this year can enter the English Under-14 Championship qualifiers. It costs just £1 but entry must be done via snookerscores.net.

Tournaments in our area are being held at Chandlers Ford SC, Waterlooville Sports Bar, Fareham SC, Salisbury SC, Frames in Coulsdon and Portslade Leisure Centre in Brighton.

Parents and coaches are urged to enter their players now as any qualifier that does not get eight runners will be cancelled.
