Fifth school-holiday title for Caden Read

CADEN Read (pictured) has claimed his fifth school-holiday title at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The 12-year-old Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour player ended the eight-day Easter Cup 12 points ahead of Lewis Thomson. Beibei Ji was third. It means first school-holiday trophies for Lewis and Beibei.

Christopher Woodward won the Day 8 prize on a dramatic three-way tiebreak after chalking up the same percentage of wins in the all-day snooker round-robin as Beibei and Chester Chan.

Three more new high breaks on the final day took the total to eight. Chester, from Reading, put together a 32 against Shao Tang Xiong. Beibei increased his personal best to 11 against Alexander Feng. And Manting Xiong made a nine.

Earlier in the fortnight, ten levels of the Cuestars Academy were passed and Silver Tour player Ryan Spratt made a personal best 94 break.

We do it all again in the Ken Jones May Half-Term Cup (May 29 to June 2).
