First title for Ryan Spratt

CUESTARS Under-21 Bronze Tour player Ryan Spratt (pictured) has clinched his first school-holiday title at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

But he was forced to sweat on other results on the ninth and final day as runner-up Archie Light put together a phenomenal run in the snooker round-robin.

Ryan eventually won the record-breaking 2022 Easter Cup by two points. It was a just reward for one of the club’s hardest working players who only started competitive snooker last October.

Archie needed to claw back a 15-point deficit and certainly did his bit by winning all seven frames. And, in a handicapped competition, that is pretty good.

Tyler Beer pipped William Thomson for third place.

There was a massive round of applause late in the afternoon as ten-year-old Asten Sahota made his highest break of 57 against Patrik Leah. And Harry Stone’s personal best 18 against Dillon Howell makes six new high snooker breaks over the past fortnight.

Oliver Sykes made the competition’s highest break of 134 (as well as a 119). He missed a tricky final pink on a maximum attempt.

The seventh running of the Easter Cup attracted a record average daily attendance. And a total of 25 different players competed over the nine days.

Fifteen levels of the Cuestars Academy were passed, Riccardo Drayton made the highest billiards break of 41 and nine-year-old William put together the highest cricket break of 167.

Next is the Ken Jones May Half-Term Cup. The competitions run on every weekday, from 11am-3pm, during every school holiday and are open to non-members. There is no pre-registration.
