Welcome to London-based coach John Woods

CUESTARS welcomes another qualified coach to its ranks.

John Woods is based at the Hurricane Room in Kings Cross, London.

He runs a junior club there for under-18s every Saturday from 10am-1pm at a cost of just £5.

“The session is quite relaxed with a mixture of ages and abilities,” said John, who also runs junior clubs around the Hurricane Room chain in Acton, Colindale and Tooting during most school holidays.

John used to play in EASB and WPBSA events “on and off” from the late 1990s to 2011. As well as a couple of World Championship qualifiers, he competed in the Players Tour Championship and the Pontins International Open Series, a feeder for the pro-circuit that was scrapped in 2010.

Eight years ago, he passed the WPBSA Grade A coaching course at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield and set up his coaching business, gone2pot snooker.

He can often be seen helping out in the Cue Zone at the major professional tournaments and does a bit of work on schemes run by The Paul Hunter Foundation.

John’s website is www.gone2pot.net. You can contact him via email at [email protected] or ring 07511 916346. For more information about the Hurricane Room, go to www.hurricaneroom.co.uk.
