William secures February Half-Term Cup

WILLIAM Thomson dominated all four disciplines in the five-day 2024 February Half-Term Cup at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The 11-year-old collected his fifth school-holiday title on Friday. Christmas Cup champion Caden Read was runner-up. And Oliver Callow, making his debut in these events, was third.

William completed Gold Level 4 of the Cuestars Academy, won the billiards, won the cricket – including two double-centuries – and his 73 break in the snooker was only pipped by O’Shay Scott’s 74 on the final day.

Sam Perkins won the final day’s snooker round-robin and made a personal best competitive break of 14.

Navraj Landa cleared the colours for a new high break of 27 against Christopher Woodward.

A total of 30 different players competed during the week and we had four new high snooker breaks.

FIFTH-DAY’S BREAKS: O’Shay Scott: 74; William Thomson: 59, 51, 49; Asten Sahota: 44, 41; Christopher Woodward: 36; Caden Read: 32; Navraj Landa: 27 (PB); Archie Light: 20; Isaac Church: 16; Sam Perkins: 14 (PB).

We do it all again at Easter. For more information about the opportunities and pathways open to junior snooker players in central southern England, contact WPBSA coach Tim Dunkley via [email protected]
