Hat-trick for Hunter

JOHN Hunter travelled to south London to complete his third success this season on the Cuestars Masters Tour.

The rankings leader from Andover beat first-time finalist Kevin Morris (Esher) 2-0 with breaks of 68 and 48 to clinch the third leg of the Snooker Hub-sponsored midweek series for players aged 55 and over.

The tables at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, had been covered with Marco Fu cloths.

Hunter said: “It took until the final for me to stop over hitting the cue-ball. Everyone enjoyed the great playing conditions.”

Meanwhile, Frames Sports Bar owner and tournament sponsor Tony Thompson has become the third life-time Cuestars member in recognition of his sponsorship since welcoming Cuestars to his club five years ago.

Thompson, who reached the semi-finals on his debut, joins Billy Castle and Jamie Wilson who received the honour for qualifying for the World Snooker Tour.

Salisbury Snooker Club hosts the fourth leg of nine on Wednesday, December 13.
