English U18 & U21 Championship qualifiers

CURRENT Cuestars members fill 15 of the 64 places in the final stages of the four national junior championships.

To have nearly a quarter of the slots is quite astonishing but it says a lot for the structure that has helped these lads progress.

Steven Hughes and Mark Lloyd booked places in the last-16 of the English Under-21 Championship via the southern qualifier at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon.

The previous day, Hughes, Oliver Sykes, Mickey Joyce, Jamie Wilson and Aidan Murphy progressed in the under-18 event.

The last-16 knockouts for those two events take place at the Northern Snooker Centre, Leeds, at the end of April.

Already in Leeds are Sykes, Murphy, Riccardo Drayton and Ronnie Sullivan for the under-14s on Saturday and Sykes, Joyce, Olly Gibbs and Bradley Cowdroy are in action on Sunday in the under-16s.

They all won through southern qualifiers in Coulsdon last month.

The finals of all four championships are being held at the South West Snooker Academy, Gloucester, in June.
