Trio compete in Leeds

THE three Cuestars players promoted from the EASB Regional Junior Tour South at the end of last season all proved they can compete on the Premier Tour.

Sonnie O’Sullivan (Aylesbury) even reached the knockout stage on his debut in the first leg at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

O’Sullivan (pictured) went out 3-0 to home player James Pearson in the last-32. Earlier, in the round-robin stage, he won three of his four matches and qualified in second place.

Meanwhile, Thomas Lancastle (Bristol) and Mark Lloyd (Gosport) both finished fourth in their respective five-man groups after winning one match each.

The EASB Premier Junior Tour consists of the country’s top-48 under-21 players. Players finishing the season high enough win England places and trips abroad for international events.

Six current Cuestars players will be in action at Fareham Snooker Club on Saturday in the first leg of the Regional Junior Tour.

Austen Petty (Boyatt Wood, Eastleigh), Mickey Joyce (Basingstoke), Luke Beebe (Eastleigh), Jamie Wilson (Portsmouth), James Budd (Fareham) and Daniel Knox (Ascot) are all vying to win promotion this season.
