Championship Tour leg to highlight cancer research

A SOUTHAMPTON businessman is sponsoring a Cuestars event next season to raise awareness of cancer research.

Jimmy King, owner of Roofing & Property Maintenance Ltd, has personal experience of the disease.

And he wants to use the Championship Tour leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club to highlight the extraordinary work being carried out to reduce the number of deaths.

The 48-year-old said: “I owe my life and future to cancer awareness research.

“It’s a pleasure for me to help this event.”

A decent player himself, Jimmy entered a few Cuestars tournaments (“many years ago”) and used to be a regular in the Roll-Up competitions at Chandlers Ford SC.

He is also related by marriage to a professional snooker player. Billy Castle’s wife, Betsie, is Jimmy’s niece.

Jimmy’s family-run firm specialises in roofing, from minor repairs to complete replacements and the supply and fit of Quality UPVc products.
