Double double for Oliver Sykes

OLIVER Sykes has completed his second Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour double.

The rankings winner beat Evan Plummer 2-1 in the Championship final at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon.

Sykes also claimed both titles in the 2018/19 season at the age of 13.

Earlier, he denied Bradley Cowdroy (Bournemouth) a chance of bowing out of junior snooker on a high.

Defending champion Cowdroy, now 21, ended his 13th and last season with a 2-0 defeat in the last-four.

Paying tribute to his fellow left-hander, Sykes said: “We’ve had plenty of battles this season. He’s such a nice lad. He’s so respectful.

“I’m going to enjoy spending time with him at Q School.”

Turning to Plummer, his final opponent from Coulsdon, the 17-year-old added: “Me and Evan have also had quite a few clashes, not just at Cuestars but in Pro-Ams as well.

“He’s definitely improved this year. He’s another great player to compete with.”

The season finale was sponsored by Jesters SC and the trophies were presented by Cuestars ambassador Joe Perry.
