Four centuries for Welsh pro Davies
WELSH professional Paul Davies thrilled 33 young potters from across the south with four centuries at Salisbury Snooker Club.
The world No 57 was joined by Frank Adamson, coach of three-time world champion Ronnie O’Sullivan, at a snooker day organised by Cuestars director John Hunter.
The youngsters gained expert advice from Adamson and Davies, who is closely involved with the Cuestars Section based at Rileys, Cardiff.
Davies, who pocketed £18,800 in prize money last season on the Main Tour, played one-frame matches against the lads.
High Wycombe referee Roy Danyluk was kept on his toes as Davies amassed breaks of: 106, 119, 65, 115, 118, 83, 72, 94, 73 and 74.
“He was in good form,” admitted Hunter.
Ben Gould, who leads the Thatcham SC Cuestars Section rankings, chalked up a 28 against Davies.
Joshua Brooker, from High Wycombe’s Liberal Club, defeated Thomas Hilborne, from Trowbridge, in the final of a tournament run alongside the coaching.
Brooker, currently eighth in the Under-12 rankings, beat Eastleigh’s Liam Burnet in the last four.
Hilborne edged out Kishan Hirani, from Davies’ club, in the second semi.
Paul Ives (Liberal Club, High Wycombe) beat Kyle Hollow (The Academy, Basingstoke) in the Plate final.
