Jesters B sting Trowbridge rivals
SWINDON Jesters B did their A side a huge favour by winning the Cuestars Section Team Challenge at The Academy in Eastleigh.
Derrick Volante, Josh Lee, Connor Probets and Joe Moon snookered Trowbridge A’s (pictured) chance of wrapping up the title with one tournament to spare.
It was by far the lads’ best performance of the season. In the previous six tournaments they had been knocked out in the quarter-finals on four occasions and at the last-16 stage twice
A 4-2 victory by Jesters B in the final means Trowbridge have a 13-point lead over Eastleigh A and a 15-point lead over third-placed Jesters A.
Trowbridge captain Daniel Tallentire will have home advantage for the final event on the South of England Tour.
Player’s in Westbury, the team’s new home since the town’s snooker club shut, hosts event number eight on May 31.
In the semi-finals, 14-year-old Daniel Winfield won a crucial black-ball game in the last singles match against Liam Burnet to give Trowbridge a 4-2 victory over Eastleigh A.
“We really needed to win,” admitted Eastleigh’s junior organiser Cliff Goodchild.
