Riley Ellis sets Cuestars record
RILEY Ellis has written his name into the Cuestars records book.
The 21-year-old from Swindon is the first player in the competition’s 16-year-history to win all three Under-21 ranking titles.
In his final season on the junior circuit, Ellis secured top spot on the Gold Tour and the £300 cash prize by successfully defending his 11-point lead over Will Forster (Whiteley) in the tenth and last leg at Greenbaize Snooker Club in Bournemouth.
Ellis has competed in 98 Cuestars Under-21 tournaments in his near ten-year career. He made his Bronze Tour debut in Salisbury in October, 2015, and won the rankings title the following season. Promoted to Silver, he clinched that title in 2020/21. He bows out after four seasons in Gold with just one regret: he never won a Gold tournament.
The event in Bournemouth was sponsored by Greenbaize SC (www.greenbaizesnooker.com) and club member Shaun Hayman.
Next up is the Cuestars Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze Championships at Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon, on Sunday, May 25.
