A target missed

BRONZE Tour player Connor Benzey missed his high-break target…

…By 11-and-a-half hours.

A year ago, Benzey (pictured) set himself the goal of a 40 break by January 10, 2015.

And on January 10, 2015, at just after 11.30am on Table 4 at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club against Abhay Chopra in week-two of the Eastleigh & District Under-19 League, the 12-year-old from Eastleigh recorded a personal best 43.

Meanwhile, when another Bronze Tour player, David Rice, attended the Cuestars Skills Challenge in Salisbury on December 21, his highest break in competition was 24.

The following Saturday, on the eve of his 20th birthday, he made his debut in the Open Series at Chandler’s Ford SC and chalked up a 29.

Last Sunday, he reached the Bronze Tour final in Woking.

This afternoon, Rice, from Fordingbridge, lost only one frame out of 12 in the Open Series and recorded a 32 against Olly Gibbs.
