Can Hunter make it a dozen South Wilts titles
CAN John Hunter continue his remarkable run in the Cuestars South Wilts Snooker League?
The 14th running of the competition founded in 2005 in memory of former Durrington professional Graham Lee, who died suddenly in 2004 at the age of 44, kicks off next week.
Players from the Salisbury area and beyond compete on alternate Thursday evenings in five-frame scratch matches until March, 2018, at Salisbury Snooker Club.
Lee Stagg, from Fordingbridge, makes his league debut this season.
Nine players will be competing for the Graham Lee Memorial Trophy and £100 prize money. In addition, there is £40 for the runner-up and £20 for the highest break.
Hunter is the 11-time and defending champion. But Anthony Rice, last season’s runner-up, is on a bit of a roll. The 20-year-old was promoted to the EASB Premier Junior Tour at the end of last season and has won two out of the three tournaments on the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour to lead the rankings.
First-named players are reminded to book the table and send the result, breaks and highlights of the match to Tim Dunkley via [email protected] as soon as possible.
Reports are published on the Cuestars website and sent to the Salisbury Journal.
