Chris Bennett wins first title

CUESTARS Bronze Tour player Chris Bennett has claimed his first school-holiday title at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

The 13-year-old was crowned Autumn Half-Term Cup champion after a hard-fought battle with second-placed Christopher Woodward. It was a contest that was only decided on the final two frames of the fifth day.

Organisers were particularly impressed by the respectful and good-natured rivalry between winner and runner-up all week.

William Thomson was second in the final day’s round robin, which took the eight-year-old up to third place overall.

Earlier in the week, Dylan Beer cracked Level 4 of the Cuestars Academy after 16 months of trying, Christopher picked up the nickname Spiderman for his prowess with the awkward implement, former champion O’Shay Scott made the highest snooker break of 38, William knocked in the highest cricket score of 41 and Riley Ellis chalked up the best billiards break of 42.

We return with the Christmas Cup. Activities with World Snooker coach Tim Dunkley take place between 11am-3pm on every weekday during every school holiday.
