Pittman stalks Hunter

SALISBURY’S Trevor Pittman is just one point off top spot in the Cuestars South Wilts Snooker League

The 43-year-old, who runs the Salisbury & District Inter Clubs League, defeated Alex Thorn (Shrewton) 3-2 in the latest round of matches at Salisbury Snooker Club.
Gary Hart (Porton) lost 4-1 to current leader John Hunter (Andover) in a match that was closer than the score-line suggested.
“Gary played really good match play,” said Hunter.
In the final frame, Hart led by 42 points with four reds remaining thanks to a break of 31. Hunter cleared with a run of 49 to win on the black and stay ahead of Pittman.
Southampton’s Neil Carroll claimed his first win of the season, seeing off Steve Ashton (Shrewton) 3-2.
In a tight affair, Ashton fought back from 2-0 down but Carroll clinched the decider with a 32.
Jeremy Dawson (Gillingham, Dorset) compiled a 38 in his 3-2 victory over Stuart Dreyer (Salisbury)
Amesbury teenager James Bolton, 16, whitewashed Paul Burt (Britford) 5-0.
And in a rearranged game, third-placed Richard Arnold (Salisbury) wrapped up a 4-1 victory over Thorn with a 47 break.
