Riley on a high as debut looms

A NEW Cuestars member from Wiltshire has been rewarded for all his hard work over the past three months with a new high break in competition.

Riley Ellis (pictured) – who is looking forward to making his Bronze Tour debut at Salisbury Snooker Club on Sunday, October 4 – cleared the colours for a personal best 27.

The 11-year-old from Swindon has been playing the game for three-and-a-half years and moved to Jesters Snooker Club a couple of months ago.

He compiled the break while playing for Jesters Cats who won the club’s internal eight-team summer league.

The Cuestars Bronze Tour is the first step on the snooker pyramid outside of club competitions. A 40 break qualifies you for the Silver Tour, a 60 break for the Gold Tour.

Once you are Gold Tour standard, the next step for serious players is the EASB Regional Junior Tour South. Promotion from that is to the EASB Premier Junior Tour where England places and invitations to the IBSF and European Under-21 Championships are up for grabs.

In parallel to the above tours, there are also the English Under-14, Under-16, Under-18 and Under-21 Championships. There are normally one-day regional qualification events followed by a last-16 knockout in Leeds.
