First RJT semi-final for Mickey Joyce

SIX Cuestars Gold Tour players travelled to Dunstable Snooker Club (near Luton) for the first leg of the EASB Regional Junior Tour South.

Mickey Joyce (pictured) progressed the furthest. The 12-year-old from Basingstoke reached his first semi-final where he lost 2-0 to the eventual tournament winner Matthew Lyon (Norfolk).

Two others went out in the last-eight. Anthony Rice (Fordingbridge) was knocked out 2-1 by beaten finalist Reggie Edwards (Norwich). And Jonny Mutch (Cambridge) went down 2-0 to Londoner Adam Stacey.

Bradley Cowdroy (Bournemouth), Callum Browne (Trowbridge) and Jamie Wilson (Havant) were group-stage casualties.

The second leg of six is at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon, on Sunday, October 25.

The Regional Junior Tour is a feeder circuit for the Premier Junior Tour, on which James Budd and Mark Lloyd compete.
