Ryan’s day

CRICKET, bowls, billiards and snooker were on the menu over Easter for the next generation of Cuestars members.

Ryan Hughes ended the ten days of competition at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club 11 points clear of Oli Line. Bronze Tour player Sam Warren was third.

The 2014 Easter Cup champion, who was runner-up in the February Half-Term Cup and has a high break of 18, said the fortnight was “fun” and he was “pleased” to win the trophy.

“It’s been very tight at the top with me, Sam and Oli,” he added.

Hughes – a Year 7 pupil at Thornden School, Chandler’s Ford – particularly impressed the coach with his billiards prowess.

“I’m seeing all the angles and ‘in-offs’ and cannons,” said the 12-year-old.

“I’ve enjoyed the billiards and the snooker. I liked the cricket – even though I lost both my games.”

Skills training and competitions for juniors are held from 11am-3pm every weekday during all six school holidays.
