Ryan’s week

WEEK-one of the Rotary Summer Cup at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club has been won by Ryan Hughes (pictured).

The 12-year-old, who also claimed this year’s Ken Jones May Half-Term Cup and the Easter Cup, ended seven days of skills training and competitions 13 points clear of Bronze Tour player Steven Hughes. Charlie Pringle was third.

Ryan, along with Charlie, is working towards making his Cuestars debut next season.

The Summer Cup mainly attracts Bronze Tour-standard players and beginners. It runs on all 28 weekdays during the school holidays from 11am-3pm. No, you don’t have to play every day. Yes, it is open to non-members of the club.

Activities include: the Cuestars Coaching Programme (Ryan is on Level 5), handicapped snooker, billiards, cricket, golf, bowls, coaching and a few challenges thrown in along the way.

All sessions are run by World Snooker qualified coach Tim Dunkley.

The Rotary Summer Cup will be presented to the player who amasses the most ranking points over the summer. There are also small daily prizes and separate trophies for the players who win the most points each week.
