So what did you do in your summer holidays?

BOWEN Zhu goes back to school this week as the 2014 Rotary Summer Cup champion.

The nine-year-old (pictured), who will make his Cuestars debut in October, ended 28 days of competition at Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club as the top ranked player.

Just over five weeks of billiards, cricket, Cuestars Coaching Programme exercises and snooker came to a close this afternoon.

Bowen, who played on 22 of the 28 days, beat Ryan Hughes, who played one day less, by 12 points. The 2013 champion Steven Hughes (20 days) was third with Charlie Pringle (18 days) fourth.

A total of 21 youngsters competed this year. Seven of them beat their highest breaks in competition over the summer holiday.

Bowen set a personal best 27, passed two Cuestars levels and reduced his handicap by an impressive 17 points.

So after 28 cheese salad rolls – correction, 27 cheese salad rolls and one ham salad roll – 56 cups of coffee, a generous supply of doughnuts, home-made cupcakes and a Colin the Caterpillar extremely chocolatey sponge cake, it’s all over until we do it all again in the Autumn Half-Term Cup at the end of October.
