Bradley Cowdroy runner-up in MIUS Cup

CUESTARS players turned were out in force for the 2019 European U18s MIUS Cup.

Former Gold Tour rankings champion Bradley Cowdroy finished runner-up in the main event.

The 17-year-old from Bournemouth was edged 4-3 in the final by Bradford-based England international Isa Ishtiaq.

Cowdroy’s safety play throughout the three-day event at the South West Snooker Academy was described by another England international as “quality”.

Cowdroy and semi-finalist Connor Benzey both recorded the highest break of 101.

Oliver Sykes, Jamie Wilson and Mickey Joyce all qualified for the knockout but lost in the play-off round before the quarter-finals.

Cuestars director John Hunter said: “The boys did great.”

New Cuestars member Josh Symes, from Somerset, beat Oliver Brindle 3-0 in the Plate final.

The group-stage results for the 23 entries can be viewed at MUIS U18s on My Snooker Stats and the knockout results on the SWSA Facebook page.
