Third-time-lucky Green seals EASB RJT victory with ton

IT WAS third time lucky for Salisbury’s Mark Green on the EASB Regional Junior Tour.

After a pair of 2-1 defeats in the first two Zone 1 (South West) finals, Green made no mistake in the event-three final at Top Cue Snooker Club, Gloucester.
The rankings leader, and hot favourite to win promotion to the EASB Premier Junior Tour, hammered in a 106 break to wrap up a 2-0 win against James Sumner (Ambassador SC, Bournemouth).
Sumner, who finished runner-up in the same round-robin group as Green, climbed to sixth. Green’s club-mate James Bolton is sixth.
Green is joint sixth on the Cuestars South of England Championship Tour and ninth on the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour.
Meanwhile, in the Zone 2 (South East) event in Romford, Chandler’s Ford SC’s rising star Bouwe Bosma reached the knockout for the second time in his debut season.
The 13-year-old, who had lost a 90-minute battle with Adam Bobat 2-1 on the final black in the group stages, went out 2-0 to Scott Bell (Tunbridge Wells) in the last 16. Bosma is 13th.
Jordan Winbourne, also from Chandler’s Ford SC and the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour rankings leader, is fourth after a 2-1 last-16 exit to Rees Carter (Buckingham).
There are two tournaments left to play. The top two in each zone gain promotion. Each of the third-placed players qualifies for the play-off.
