Clayden wins strong Plate in Fareham

LEE Clayden was last man standing from a strong field for the Plate competition during the eighth legs of the Cuestars Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours at Fareham Snooker Club.

The 16-year-old from Chingford won all five of his matches and finished with a 2-0 victory over William Thomson in the final of the event for players who hadn’t qualified for the knockouts in the main tournaments.

The previous day, Thomson beat Bronze player Rayan El Qmache (London) 2-0 in the southern final of the PowerGlide English Under-14 Championship at Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon.

The 11-year-old from Chandler’s Ford faces northern champion and last season’s national runner-up Nicholas Ayers in the final on Sunday, April 7, at Tamworth Sports Bar.

There were 49 entries for the event which was sponsored by Fareham SC (farehamsnooker.co.uk) and snookerdad Ian Walter.

Chandlers Ford Snooker Club hosts the ninth legs of ten on Sunday, April 7.
