Trio reunited after 30 years

VERY young kid called Stephen Hendry” popped up in a conversation between three old friends when they met up for the first time in more than 30 years.

Cuestars Seniors Tour players Steve Hills and Steve Ashton were reunited with Dean Allder at Salisbury Snooker Club.

Ashton said: “We all used to play in a team together in the Medway snooker league and the Gravesend and District leagues in Kent.

“The last time I saw Dean was when he beat me in the final of the Kent under-21 championships back in 1982.”

While reminiscing, Allder – who now lives in Marlborough but hasn’t picked up a cue in 20 years – recalled a Schweppes-sponsored national junior championship 32 years ago when he was beaten in the semi-finals by the eventual tournament winner, an 18-year-old called John Hunter. Whatever happened to him?

The other losing semi-finalist was a certain Stephen Hendry. Whatever happened to him?
