New high break and first PJT semi-final

ENGLISH under-18 snooker champion Mark Lloyd chalked up his highest break en route to a first ever semi-final on the EASB Premier Junior Tour.

The 16-year-old from Gosport produced his best performance on the national under-21 circuit in the second leg of six at Cueball Derby.

After progressing through the group stages as one of the best third-placed players, Lloyd cleared the table for a personal best 113 to wrap up a 4-2 last-16 victory over Brandon Sargeant (Stoke).

He then defeated Thomas Lancastle (Oldbury) 4-3 before going down 4-2 to the eventual tournament winner Lewis Gillen (Leeds).

Lloyd, who currently leads the Cuestars South of England Under-21 Gold Tour, said: “I had a new tip on at the start of the week and had limited practise due to college work so I’m pleased with this weekend’s results.”
