Cuestars Under-21 League

CUESTARS is delighted to announce radical plans for the 2020/21 under-21 season.

It follows advice from our national governing body, the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), that tournaments in the traditional sense are no longer permitted under the government’s coronavirus rules.

So John Hunter and his team have put their heads together and come up with an alternative method of deciding how this season’s Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze champions will be determined.

The three competitions will run on a singles league basis.

Each league will consist of six-eight players. Matches will be played home and away. Two matches can be played on the same date so a bit of organising could make a day of it.

Gold matches will be nine frames, Silver seven and Bronze five. One point will be awarded for each frame won and the winner receives a bonus point.

A full fixture list will be provided with the home player required to contact the away player to arrange the match. The home player is responsible for any table costs.

The number of qualifiers from each league will be made known at the start of the competition.

Matches must be played at these Cuestars supporting clubs: Chandlers Ford Snooker Club; Top Spot Snooker Club, Havant; Waterlooville Sports Bar; Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon; Frames Sports Bar, Coulsdon; Salisbury Snooker Club; Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth; and Fareham Snooker Club.

Players and parents must follow each host club’s pandemic rules.

Matches will be played between November and February. Tim Dunkley and David Thomson will manage the fixtures and results.

A finals day knockout will take place next March to find this season’s Cuestars Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze champions.

Trophies to be provided from sponsorship raised. Cash prizes subject to sponsorship received.

There is no entry fee for the Under-21 League. But all players must have renewed their £10 Cuestars membership.

Should you not wish to use the PayPal button, you can instead credit your £10 membership fee to Lloyds bank account number 779517 87082768 quoting your full name.

Once renewed, you can check to see if your membership fee has been received by clicking this Cuestars website link Player Profiles.

If your name appears in the players list, you are a member for the Cuestars 2020/2021 season. Assuming you are listed, click your name to view your player profile and check the information shown is correct. If it’s not or if information is missing get in touch with me via email: [email protected] or by text: 07795 257727.

Interested players should email John by the closing date, October 21, 2020.

This will take same organising but as long as players and parents talk to each other, it will work.

As usual in these difficult times, these plans may need to change if the advice from the government or the EPSB changes.
