‘Exceptional’ Scott lands first Gold trophy

O’SHAY Scott raised his game to a new level to claim his first winner’s trophy on the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour.

The 15-year-old from Eastleigh was “exceptional” and “played with maturity”, according to final referee Chris Wyatt.

Scott wrapped up a 2-0 victory over rankings champion Evan Plummer with a 59 clearance to the pink in the ninth leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

It means Plummer (Coulsdon) is in an unassailable position with one leg remaining in his final season.

Scott, who pocketed £100 in prize money and is now fifth in the rankings, defeated Chandlers Ford clubmate Riley Ellis 2-0 in the last-four. Londoner Lee Whaley lost 2-1 to Plummer in the second semi.

John Donovan (Camden Town) recorded the day’s highest break of 88 in his round-robin group-stage victory over Harry Wyatt (Ferndown).

The event was sponsored by Pitman Training.

Greenbaize Snooker Club, Bournemouth, hosts the tenth and final leg on Sunday, April 28.
