First Cuestars trophies for Knight and Miller

A FIRST Cuestars trophy is always a magic moment in any young snooker player’s career.

And during the seventh legs of the Under-21 Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours at Woking Snooker Centre, we had two.

Brett Knight, 15, (Shoreham-by-Sea) defeated nine-year-old Jack Miller (Thatcham) in the final of the Plate competition.

Both had finished in third place in their respective five-man round-robin groups and missed out on the knockout stage of the main event.

Navraj Landa (Eastleigh), who earlier made a new high break of 28 against Noah Gartell (Isle of Wight) in the group stages, upped it again with a huge 46 against Oliver Li (Brighton) in the last-eight of the Plate.

There was a massive 66-strong field for the combined Gold, Silver and Bronze tournaments which were sponsored by snookerdad Tan Jeraj and snookerz.co.uk. It was the highest turnout in the 14-year-history of the competition and eclipsed the previous record of 62 set in Coulsdon last October.

Fareham Snooker Club hosts the eighth leg of ten on Sunday, March 3.
