EVAN Plummer has collected his first Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour winner’s trophy in his last season on the junior circuit.
The 20-year-old from Coulsdon admitted it was a “relief” after losing three finals since gaining promotion from Silver at the end of the 2016/17 season.
Plummer pocketed £100 in prize money after beating John Donovan 2-1 to clinch the third leg at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.
He came back from 1-0 down and broke the back of the decider with a run of 48.
“It’s nice to go ahead early because it puts pressure on your opponent.” he said. “John is difficult (to beat). He never gives up.
“It’s a relief to win one.”
Talking about the improvement in his game, Plummer added: “I’m working on a few technical things, hitting the ball a little bit nicer.
“Players like Oliver (Sykes) seem to hold onto the white for a little bit longer. You have to model yourself on players like that.”
Plummer thanked his home club, Frames Sports Bar in Coulsdon, for all the help they give him.
Will Forster (Wickham) and Jacob Boyle (Cardiff) made the semi-finals for the first time.
Donovan (Camden Town) takes over top spot in the rankings. Home player William Thomson, 11, is ten points adrift in second place. Plummer is one point further back in third.
Woking Snooker Centre hosts the fourth leg of ten on Sunday, December 3.
